Services for Clarence H. Tanner, 76, of Hudson, father of Frank Tanner of Traer, were held Monday at the United Methodist church of Hudson. He died Wednesday at Schoitz Memorial hospital in Waterloo of complications due to advanced age. He was born October 24, 1895, in Archer, Iowa, the son of John and Ida Beagle Tanner. He married Lillian Schiefelbein December 17, 1913, in Zion Lutheran church in Hudson. Mr. Tanner had been employed by Black Hawk county in bridge construction, and by the Waterloo Water Works. He retired in 1960.
Survivors include four sons, Frank of Traer, Edwin of Nashville, Oregon; Clarence Jr. of Waterloo; and Virgil of Waterloo; five daughters, Mrs. Ruth Conner and Mrs. Robert Thompson, both of Traer, Mrs. Donald Hulse of Waterloo, Mrs. Ed Murphy of Waterloo, Mrs. Paul Fausch of Hudson. Also, four brothers John of Archer, Verness of Primghar; Ernest of Gardena, California; Phillip of Missouri; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Huff of Waverly; 29 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife in 1970, one daughter, three brothers, three sisters, three grandchildren,
