Ted D. Zaharako, D.D.S., 62, of Columbus, died at 10:12 a.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, at Indiana University Hospital in Indianapolis.

Dr. Zaharako was a 1968 graduate of Columbus High School, a 1972 graduate of Indiana University and a 1976 graduate of the IU School of Dentistry. He opened a dental practice in Columbus 35 years ago, in 1978, and had been associated with Zaharako Confectionary since he was 14 years old, later becoming a partner

He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church in Nashville, Kiwanis Club, Bartholomew County, Indiana and American Dental associations, and Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity.

Funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Myers-Reed Chapel on 25th Street, with Father Bill Stumpf officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday and from 9:30 a.m. until service time Monday. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Born in Columbus May 16, 1950, Dr. Zaharako was the son of Lewie J. and May V. Daleure Zaharako. He married Alice Jean "Allie" Phillips Oct. 10, 1998, in Columbus. She survives.

Other survivors include a son, Anthony D. Zaharako of Columbus, and a cousin, Demetrios (Joanna) Zaharako of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lew D. Zaharako; and his mother- and father-in-law, Sara and Douglas Phillips.
