Edith Marcella Long Oxford, age 82 of Joplin, passed away at her home at 4:49 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013.

Born October 18, 1930 in Joplin, she was the daughter of the late Harry Lee Austin Long and Lela Irene Hodges Long and lived in Joplin her lifetime. As a teenager she worked at the M & O Cigar factory, but was a homemaker most of her life.

On December 20, 1947, she married Albert "Red" Lanta Oxford, Jr. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1997.

Survivors include daughters, Beverly Sadler and husband Jim, Pam McReynolds and husband Larry, Paula Esterline, Kathy Esterline, Terry Oxford and husband Chris, Marcia Stephens and husband Tim, Tracy Cox and husband Duane, all of Joplin; sons, Randy Oxford, Brian Oxford, Mark Oxford and Michael Shane Oxford, all of Joplin; a sister, Myrna Boles and husband Gerald of Phoenix, Ariz.; 26 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. at Osborne Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Duane Cox, Sr. officiating and family serving as pallbearers.
