AGAWAM - Annette M. (Messier) Phaneuf, 93, formerly of Mansion Woods, entered into eternal rest on Monday, December 24, 2007 in a local nursing home. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Leon and Rosanna (Commette) Messier, she lived in Agawam for seventy years. Annette was a forty year executive secretary at Massachusetts Mutual, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Agawam Golden Age Club, the over 60 club and volunteered at Brightside for twenty-five years. She was a communicant and active parishioner at Sacred Heart Church where she taught Confraternity of Christian Doctrine Classes, was a Eucharistic Minister and a member of their former Rosary Altar Society. Annette was also a member and past president of the Agawam Catholic Women's Club. She was the secretary of her high school class and her class reunion committee until the group dissolved in 2003. She enjoyed painting, seeing Broadway musicals, spending time with her grandchildren and was an avid reader. Her husband, Armand L. Phaneuf died in 1986 and a son, Robert A. Phaneuf died in 1969. She leaves three sons and a daughter, Pierre A. and his wife Susan Phaneuf of Los Angeles, John R. and his wife Marion Phaneuf of Plymouth, Denise M. Bagg of Agawam, Thomas P. and his wife Janis Phaneuf all of Agawam, twelve grandchildren, Michael, Robin, Christine, Jonathan, John David, Danielle, Sharon, Christopher, Jeffrey, Robert, Steven, Timothy and seven great grandchildren, Benjamin, Maddie, Sydney, Alexandra, Olivia, William and Sophia. The funeral will be Saturday at 9 a.m. from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street, with a Mass in Sacred Heart Church at 10. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brightside, 2112 Riverdale Street, West Springfield, MA 01089.
