AGAWAM Denise M. (Phaneuf) Bagg, 66, entered into eternal rest on Sunday, July 22, 2012 in John Hopkins Medical Center in Baltimore, MD. Born in Springfield, daughter of the late Armand and Annette (Messier) Phaneuf, she grew up in Agawam and lived in Holyoke for twenty-five years before moving back to Agawam in 1997. Denise was fund raiser for local non-profit organizations, most recently The Village in Connecticut. She was a graduate of St. Joseph's College in Hartford and previously had been a teacher at St. Joan d'Arc School in Chicopee. She was a devout Catholic, working for many years as a fund raiser for Brightside in West Springfield. She was a member of the Junior League in Holyoke and a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church. She leaves three sons, Atty. Jonathan P. Bagg, Jr. and his wife Jennifer of Derwood, MD, Christopher S. Bagg and his wife Beth of West Warren, Timothy A. Bagg of South Boston, three brothers and their wives, Peter and Susan Phaneuf of Los Angeles, John and Marion Phaneuf of Plymouth, Thomas and Janice Phaneuf of Agawam, two grandchildren, Olivia L. Bagg, Madelyn A. Bagg, and a soon to be grandchild. She was predeceased by a brother, Robert Phaneuf. The funeral will be Saturday at 9am from the Agawam Funeral Home, 184 Main Street with a Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church at 10. The burial will follow in Springfield Street Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Denise M. Bagg Legacy Fund, Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, 1500 Rosecrans Avenue, Suite 200, Manhattan Beach, CA 90266.
