John McFarline was born near Caledonia,
N. Y., Oct. 22, 1821, and was
married to Miss Amelia Miller in 1840.

In 1853 they removed to Illinois, and
lived near New Milford, where he joined
the Congregational church. In
1880 he and his family located on
a farm in this township, where they
have since resided.

Mr. McFarline was a man of honor
able, upright and conscientious character.
His genial, sunny disposition
won for him a host of friends, who
will deeply mourn his death. He was
a kind and indulgent husband and
father, an excellent neighbor, and a
good citizen in all that the name implies.

He had been in poor health
the past two or three years, and during the
last few months he was a great
sufferer, but bore it all with the greatest
calmness and patience. He has
lived a faithful and consistant christian life,
and departed this life of
pain in the blessed hope of eternal
happiness in the world to come.
