TRAVERSE CITY — Homemaker, loving mother, care giver and child care provider were among the many hats worn by Iris as she traveled through her 99 year life. That journey ended when she passed peacefully in her sleep Feb. 26, 2013.
The daughter of David and Estella Heimforth Priest, she married Edgar M. Brugh on her birthday, Jan. 11, 1934. Together they raised two boys, Lon E. and Jerry L. Brugh. She had four grandchildren, Charles, Michael, Shawn and Jesica; and two great-grandchildren, Kylie Rae and Hailey Louise Brugh.
She was preceded in death by her husband and all seven of her siblings, Earl, Raymond, Fern, Alfred, Orpha, Orville and Bud.
Iris worked at Essex Wire and retired in 1979 with an offer to raise her granddaughter, Jesica, while her parents worked. The offer was gratefully accepted.
