CANANDAIGUA - Joan (Kearney) Wade, age 86, of Quail Summit, died Friday, April 25, 2008, at F. F. Thompson Hospital, with her family by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (James) Cothern of Florida; five sons, Robert (Carol) Wade of Florida, Richard (Mary) Wade of Canandaigua, James (Joann) Wade of Florida and Stephen (Kathy) Wade and Patrick (Cynthia) Wade, both of Canandaigua; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marian Lynch and Patricia Bryant, both of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Wade in 1990.
Mrs. Wade was born in Gloversville, N.Y. and was the daughter of Bernard and Lillian (Dean) Kearney.
She attended schools in Gloversville. In 1943.
Sshe enlisted in the Women's Army Corps ( WAC) and served in the Pacific theater.
On Jan. 20, 1946 she married Robert Wade in Laredo, Texas. They moved to Canandaigua in 1947 and lived on West Gibson Street.
Mrs. Wade was employed at Finger Lakes Race Track from its inception until her retirement in 2007.
She was a member of St. Mary's Church and a former member of Canandaigua Country Club and the Century Club.
Friends may call today (Sunday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at John C. Johnson Funeral Home Inc., 47 N. Main St., Canandaigua.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 95 N. Main St., Canandaigua.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery
