Aaron was the last of nine children born to George J. Alleman and Nancy Schuyler, who married circa 1815, most-likely in Fayette, Seneca Co., New York where their first child was born. His older siblings were Mahon (1816-1924), John J. (1819-1874), Mary Ann (b.1821), Napoleon B. (1823-1879), Phillip Schuyler (1826-1908), Eliza Adeline (b.1829), George K. (1832-1864), and Phildelia E. (b.1834).

Aaron's mother Nancy died on 20 Mar 1848, and his father married Ruth Davy Herron White, a third marriage for her. Aaron appeared with his father, step-mother, brother George, and five half-siblings--Eunice Alleman, Nancy White, Henrietta White, Miles White and Caroline Herron on the 1850 Census, living in Rochester, Fulton Co., Indiana, where Aaron's father was earning a living as a miller.

Aaron's father George died two years later on 5 Jul 1852.

There was an 1860 Census record for an A.L. Alleman which I think was Aaron. He was single, aged 22, living in Plymouth, Marshall, Indiana, and earning a living in trading. He was living with John and Caroline Shoemaker and their two young children.

Aaron married wife Violettia on 16 Oct 1862, her maiden name noted as Wilby. They had six children together-Harry (1864), Maudie M. (1865), an infant son (b./d. 1867), Edith (1868), Robert (1872) and Daisy (1873).

I found the family on the 1870 Census living in Center Twp. (part of Plymouth), Marshall, Indiana, where Aaron was working as a furniture dealer. Besides wife Violetta and children Harry (6), Maude (4) and Edith (1), Alice McElvane (16) a domestic servent, and George Knupp (22), a jeweler, were living with the family.

The 1880 Census revealed that Aaron was a widower. Violettia had died four years earlier. Aaron was still in Plymouth and was working as an undertaker. Children Harry (16), Edith (11) and Robert (8), were still at home with their father.

A year after the ink had dried on that decade's census, Aaron remarried, wedding Martha Ann Hutchison (nee Squires) on 20 Aug 1881. Martha first husband, George Hutchison had died in 1880.

Aaron died in 1892 at age 58 and was laid to rest near his wife and the four children who preceded him in death. Besides the infant son they lost in 1867, Daisy had died in 1874 at age 1 year 6 months, Maudie had died in 1878 at age 13, and Edith had died in 1884 at age 16.

Aaron's second wife Martha quickly remarried, tying the proverbial knot with Harrison Waddle on 24 Nov 1892, only nine months after losing Aaron.

A. L. Alleman, more familiarly called "Mack," a brother of P. S. Alleman of this city, died at his home near Rutland on the morning of February 4th, after a ten days' illness with lung fever.

He was for many years a resident of Plymouth, where he was engaged in the furniture business.

He will long be remembered for his kindness of disposition, always having a good word for all whom he met.

He leaves a wife (Martha) and two sons, Harry and Robert, who in their bereavement have the sympathy of many friends and neighbors.
