Deforth, Henry (26 APR 1856 – 3 JUN 1930)
Mr. Henry Deforth, aged seventy-four years, who has been ailing in health for the past five years, passed away at his home in this village (Thorp, Clark Co., Wis.) on Tuesday, June 3, 1930.
He was born at Schlavie, Wis., on April 26, 1856 and on May 15, 1878 was united in marriage to Miss Rosa Schueltee of the same town. They moved to Thorp in 1882 and settled on a farm one and one-half miles south of the village. Mr. Deforth had the agency for the champion machinery for nine years and for various companies and was very active in horse and cattle dealing in his younger days. In 1907 they moved to this village where they have since resided. Four children were born to them. They are Philip Deforth, Mrs. Rosa Frese and Mrs. Helen Hanson of Thorp, and Mrs. Eliza Rogers of Devils Lake, N.D. He also has eleven grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, his wife also surviving him. Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Eliza D. Rogers of Devils Lake and Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Hansen of Eau Claire. Funeral services were held at the home on Friday, June 6, and interment took place in the Reseburg Cemetery, Rev. Franzmeier of Greenwood conducting the services.
