B.K. was born near Stuart in Penn Township, Guthrie County, Iowa on December 19, 1877, the tenth child of George and Nancy Kent Jarnagin. He died of throat/mouth cancer July 5, 1942, in Rockwell City, Calhoun County, Iowa and was interred at Brethren Cemetery in Panora, Iowa. B.K. married Abbie Mae “Birdie” Hood on April 18, 1900 in Guthrie County, Iowa. They had three sons: Percy Earl, born 1902; Claire H. born 1908 and Max LeRoy born 1916. In March of 1917 Beryl moved his family to a farm in Logan Township, near Lohrville, Iowa, where they lived until 1939, when he and Birdie moved to Rockwell City. Beryl belonged to the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. In 1941, despite poor health, he was noble grand of this organization.
