Gladys Marie Dusseau was given the gift of life by her Heavenly Father. She was born on December 14, 1924, at Crookston, South Dakota, the daughter of Roy and Della (Embree) Bartley.

She became a child of God through the Sacrament of Holy Baptism on July 1, 1928. She grew up in Wanblee, South Dakota, on the Rosebud Indian Reservation.

She graduated from high school at Wanblee in 1942. In 1947 she publicly confessed her faith at her Confirmation on July 27, at Zion Lutheran Church in Valentine, South Dakota.

On June 6, 1942, the Lord blessed Gladys by uniting her in marriage to Darwin Dusseau in Martin, South Dakota, they lived for a short time in Rapid City and Mitchell, South Dakota, before Darwin entered the U.S. Navy. While Darwin was in the Navy, they lived in Chicago, Norfolk, Virginia, and St. Louis. When Darwin was sent overseas, Gladys moved to Valentine to live with her parents. After Darwin was discharged from the Navy, they made their home in Valentine. They moved to Norfolk in 1956. Last June the Lord blessed Gladys and Darwin with the joy of celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary.

Gladys was a member of St. Paul's Ladies Aid and the Adult Fellowship Group.

During her life the Lord blessed her with a family she loved. She leaves behind:

…her daughter Linda (Mike) Mullen of Norfolk;
…seven grandchildren, Rob Dusseau, Michelle Dusseau, Renee McNeal, Casey Dusseau, Cassandra Dusseau, James Mullen and Heather Eigsti;
…10 great-grandchildren;
…two brothers,
……Kenneth Bartley of Washington and
……Harry Bartley of California; and
…two sisters,
……Irene South of Oregon and
……Zora Gay Courtier of Iowa.

Gladys was preceded in death by:
…her parents and
…three brothers

On Friday, April 26, 2013 our Good and Gracious God called her out of this life at the age of 88 years, 4 months, and 12 days.

Visitation for family and friends was held on Monday, April 29, 2013, at the Home for Funerals in Norfolk from 4:00-7:00 p.m.

Funeral services for Mrs. Dusseau were held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Norfolk on Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Rodney Rixe officiating.

Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the parish cemetery there to await the great day of Resurrection

Burial was in the St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Norfolk, Nebraska.
