Mrs. Arie B. Battle
Mrs. Arie Bell Battle, 77, of 203 Michigan Avenue, died yesterday in an Asheville hospital after a brief illness.
Surviving are the husband, T.M. Battle of West Asheville; the mother Mrs. V.M. Grant, of Bryson City; six daughters, Mrs. James Stevens of Leicester, Mrs. R.A. Ball of Orlando, Fla., Mrs. Millard Clark of Toledo, Ohio, Mrs. Mitchell Plemmons of Candler, Mrs. J.H. Ingle and Mrs. H.C. Robinson of Asheville.
Also three sons, W.M. of Candler, C.M. of Asheville and J.L.of Stuart, Fla.; five sisters, Mrs. W.H. Hyde of Andrews, Mrs. R.L. Snyder of Canton, Mrs. J.Q. Barlowe of Lenoir, Mrs. Pat Scroggs of Greenville, S.C.; Miss Coda Grant of Bryson City; three brothers, Sidney Grant and Floyd Grant of Bryson City and Perry Grant of Horse Shoe; 18 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. in the Craven Street Baptist Church. The Rev. W.D. Flynn, the Rev. Perry Sprinkle and the Rev. M.D. Smith will officiate and burial will be in Pisgah View Cemetery at Candler.
Active pallbearers will be B.T. Baker, W.F. Deitz, Jules Harbin, Woodrow Ingle, Claude Hill, H.J. Aiken.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Sprinkle Bible Class of the Craven Street Baptist Church, Dr. Donald Vollmer, Jack Neil Tompkins, W.D. Hood, John Lawrence, George Lytle, Horace Rice, Frank Gilreath, Edwin McDevitt and Robert Ward.
Flower bearers will be members of the Dorcas Bible Class of the church.
