HOLDEN - Carl Lowe, 73, passed away peacefully, April 24, 2013, at home on Lowe Lane in East Holden. Carl was born Sept. 2, 1939, in East Auburn, the son of Roger Lowe and Norma (Clark) Philbrick, who predeceased him.

He grew up in Auburn and graduated from Edward Little High School. Carl was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He was a Maine original in the truest sense of the word. He loved his life here and proudly served his state, where he spent most of his life, and in the communities in which he resided. If he had chosen to write, his knowledge of the inner workings of the state could have filled volumes. Carl was best known in later years for his statewide property appraisal activities, first in state civil service and then later dba Lowe Appraisal Services. He did appraisals for a number of Maine towns and prominent businesses. He was assessor for the towns of Holden and Dedham for a number of years. His hobbies included collecting antique cars and tractors and pulling with his tractors.

He was predeceased by brother, Roger Lowe; and sister, Patricia (Lowe) Ross. Surviving is brother, Orin Lowe; and an extended family of nephews, nieces and cousins who will remember him fondly.

Interment will be at Harts Corner Cemetery, Holden. (Bangor Daily News 4/26/2013)
