Oldest Local Woman Dies in New Jersey
Mrs. Margaret Staudenmeier, 98, mother of Judge J. W. Staudenmeier, of 1134 Spruce St., died on Sunday at the home of her daughter, Miss Frances Staudemeier, in Atlantic City, New Jersey. She died six years to the day following the death of her husband Joseph Staudenmeier.
Mrs. Staudenmeier was Ashland's oldest woman and had been honored as such on several occasions at Elks memorial services held at the Mothers' Memorial, here. She had been making her home in Atlantic City for the past several years.
The highly esteemed local woman was born in Bavaria, Germany, a daughter of the late Leonard and Frances, nee Regele, Lutz. The family came to Centralia when she was a little girl and after a short residence moved to this community, of which they were pioneer residents.
Mrs. Staudenmeier spent the rest of her life, with the exception of the past few years, as a resident of this community, and was a member of Saint Mauritius Church.
Her husband died on September 3, 1944 and to survive are her son, Judge Staudenmeier, and her daughter Frances, a teacher in the Atlantic City Public Schools. Two other sons Frank and John, and a daughter, Mrs. Catherine Monaghan, preceded her in death. Twenty grand children and 14 great grandchildren also survive.
Mrs. Staudenmeier will be buried from the home of Judge Staudenmeier tomorrow morning with Mass in St. Mauritius Church at 9:30 o'clock and interment in the parish cemetery. Friends may call at the home this evening. Frank L. Burke is the funeral director.
