MRS. BEHREND D HERREN
The life of a loving, kind hearted peace loving wife, mother and sister came to a close on earth when death called the spirit of Mrs. Engel Margaret Herren at Mercy Hospital, Monday Morning, Sept 24, 1923. The deceased was a native of Germany, came to this country when a child and settled with her parents in Wayne township, Jones county, Iowa where she has resided the most of her early pilgrimage. In 1912 she and her aged husband retired from farm life and purchased a fine home in Monticello.
There were ten children born to this union, all of whom with the husband are left to mourn her passing Mrs. Herren had been in failing health for several years, especially the past summer months. She was advised by her physician to come to Mercy Hospital in order to receive attention and the best available care. At times she and her family hoped for her recovery but God knew best. Mr. Herren called at the bedside only a few minutes before her death while conversing with her husband in a cheerful manner her spirit joined the heavenly throng.
Mrs. Herren had reached the age of 66 years 7 months and 21 days. Her children, John residing in Minnesota; Ben near North English; Meta Helken of Manchester; Anna Helgens of Scotch Grove; Edward of near Anamosa; Herman of Scotch Grove; Will of Wayne Center; George at home; Mary Thompson of California and Rhinehard at home attended the solemn services held at Wayne church, Friday, September 28, Rev.
