Joel A. Morgan, 49, Richland, died Wednesday, May 4, 2005, in Lebanon's Good Samaritan Hospital. Born Sept. 28, 1955, in Richland, he was a son of the late Ray S. and Verna M. Douple Morgan. He had been employed for the last seven years with the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and, before that, was employed by Carlos R. Leffler in Richland as a truck driver for 22 years. He was a member of the Neptune Fire Co. in Richland for 31 years, serving as the fire chief for the past seven years, assistant chief for three years and held other officer positions during his tenure. He was a member of the Lebanon County and Pennsylvania firemen's associations, Goodwill Fire Co. in Myerstown, Womelsdorf VFW, Richland American Legion, Marion Rod & Gun Club and the Potter Pine Hunting Camp. He was an avid hunter and was baptized in Richland Church of the Brethren. He was a 1973 graduate of Elco High School and was a Navy veteran. Surviving are daughter Nicole Hainley of Richland; stepdaughter Angela L. Hainley of Newmanstown; brothers Dennis, husband of Maybelle Morgan, and Brian Morgan, both of Richland, and Jeffrey Morgan of Huntingdon; sisters Carol, wife of the Rev. Pete Sanchez of Myerstown, and Cynthia, wife of Doug Ruth of Womelsdorf; stepsister Jennifer Leonard of Harrisburg; four step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
