Katherine Porter was born August 29, 1923 in Madisonville, Texas to the late Frank and Lena Johnson. She was the youngest of six girls; Rosie Smith, Ocie Sueing, Daisey Patrick, Gladys Porter, and Ethelene Word which proceeded her in death.
Her formal education was obtained through Madisonville Public Schools. Katherine united in holy matrimony with Curtis Porter, October 19, 1940. To this union three children were born; Andrew Porter (deceased), Robert Porter (deceased), and Alice Falls.
