Longtime Resident of County Dies
Mrs. Anderson Came to Emmet in 1870
Mrs. Peter S. Anderson, 86, longtime farmwife of the Wallingford community, died last night at 6:45 of heart disease. She had suffered a paralytic stroke in December and had been bedfast ever since. Death came at the Peterson farm home west of Wallingford.

She was born Christie Herum, May 3, 1864, near Sun Prairie in Dane county, Wis., and came to Emmet county in 1870 settling in High Lake township with her parents while still a small child. She was daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Herum.

On August 27, 1890, she was married to Peter S. Anderson, and the couple had farmed near Wallingford from time of marriage until her death except for two years when Mr. and Mrs. Anderson lived in Estherville. She was a member of the Wallingford Lutheran church and attended ladies aid when her health permitted. She was the church's oldest ladies aid member.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Henry Egertson who lives southwest of Estherville and Mrs. Carl Newguard of Estherville; four sons, Chester and Oelwen Anderson, who live on the home farm; Harold of St. Paul and Theodore of Minneapolis; 9 grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of a family of 12 brothers and sisters.

Services have not been arranged as yet. Burial will be in Riverside cemetery and services will be in Wallingford Lutheran church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 26, 1950)
