Grounded in music, one of the highlights of her life was singing at the Mormon Tabernacle with her sister Dorothy Harpst, accompanied by their mother, Gertrude Buffington on the piano. Maxine worked for many years at Fred Phillips Realty and volunteered at the TWIGS organization of Blanchard Valley Hospital. She also worked as a regular volunteer at her election precinct and participated in many activities related to St. Andrews Methodist Church Charities. Always one to think first of others, Maxine always opened her home and heart to those in need of a loving gesture. Maxine is survived by son, Randall Ivan Cole of McLean, VA; son, Douglas Alan Cole of Paradise Valley, AZ; daughter, Julie Ann Cole of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Gertrude Buffington; her sister, Dorothy Harpst of Houston, Texas; and her brother, Glen Buffington of Findlay.
