Betty J. Long, 85, of Linn, died Sunday, April 21, 2013 at the Washington County Hospital, Washington.

Visitation will be Wednesday, April 24, noon until 8 p.m., at Ward Funeral Home in Linn. The family will receive friends 5 to 7 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, April 25, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Linn. Pastor Tom Sahl will officiate. Anita Singular is the organist and will play congregation hymns, "How Great Thou Art", "Sweet Hour of Prayer" and "Old Rugged Cross."

Pallbearers are Ramey Lehman, Ron Lehman, David Lehman, Donald Lehman, Norman Rippe, Jeff Lehman and Todd Rahe. Honorary pallbearers are James Stunkel, Chad Stunkel, Toby Stunkel, Eli Thalmann, Noah Thalmann, Cash Stunkel and Hendrix Stunkel. Burial will be in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery.

Betty was born June 5, 1927 in Goodland, KS, daughter of Herman and Christina (Boerger) Lehman. She was raised in Goodland until they moved to Linn in 1943. Betty worked in the egg department at the Washington County Creamery until 1973. Then she was a housekeeper and in the laundry at the Washington County Hospital until retiring in 2007. Betty took great pride in her work there.

Betty collected poems and recipes from magazines, enjoyed gardening, canning and baking cream pies for family gatherings. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Linn and a 53 year member of the Linn American Legion Auxiliary.

On August 26, 1946, Betty married Ivan Long at the Washington County Courthouse. He preceded her in death on November 2, 2009.

She was also preceded in death by her parents; son, Ivan Long Jr.; son-in-law, Harold Stunkel; great-grandson, Johnathon Stunkel; brothers, Robert Lehman and Terry Lehman; and sisters, Dorothy Long, Mary Banninger, Helen Lehman and Ida Lehman.

Survivors include her daughter, Geraldine Stunkel, Clifton; grandchildren, James Stunkel, Clay Center, Jennifer (Dan) Thalmann, Greenleaf, Chad (Laura) Stunkel, Palmer, Cassie (Kieran) Wurtz, Clifton, Toby Stunkel, Clay Center; great-grandchildren, Ashley, Mercedes, Samantha, Cash and Hendrix Stunkel, Acacia, Kesiah, Eli, Ella and Noah Thalmann, Shea, Sevy and Jersey Wurtz; brothers, Leonard (Donna) Lehman, Peculiar, MO, Bill (Cheryl) Lehman, Topeka, Lawrence (Lola) Lehman, Clay Center, LeRoy (Elfrieda) Lehman, Linn; sisters, Catherine Wilkens, Clay Center, Lillian (Dale) Rippe, Linn, Jeanette (Richard) Hoerner, Linn, Louise (Elmo) Rahe, Hillsboro, Ruth (Terry) Simnitt, Topeka, Judy (John) Lotz, Topeka, Pat Rahe, Hanover; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Betty would always say "Remember I love you!" She was an angel in everyone's eyes.

A memorial fund has been established in her name and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home.
