22 Ys. 2 Ms. 15 Ds.

Son of Edgar Jack Brewer and Belle Allen.

Death notice published in the Toronto Republican, April 24, 1891, page 3

Last Friday forenoon, about 10 o'clock, Dell Brewer, son of E. J. Brewer, who lives about six miles north ot town, was drowned in the Verdigris river while attempting to ford it, with a team and wagon, about six miles up the river. No one witnessed the distressing accident, and of course no one knows just how it happened. It is supposed, however, thet the river being pretty high, the force of the current caused the horses to become unmanageable, and that the loss of the animals being feared, young Brewer attempted to extricate them, and in doing so lost his own life. The horses were also drowned, and were found about 300 yards below the ford. The body of the unfortunate young man was reclaimed from its watery grave during the afternoon, and was found by Jess Carter. Young Brewer was about 23 years of age, and was well known and much esteemed in this community, and his untimely death is universally regretted. The funeral occurred on Saturday afternoon, with services at his late home, and the burial took place in the Toronto cemetery.
