Mrs. Nora Allen Dies At 88; Rites In Wayne County

Mrs. Nora Allen, 88, a resident of Peoria who formerly lived in Wayne county, died at 12:30 p.m. yesterday in Peoria. She was the widow of Jerry Allen, who died in 1935.

She was born in Wayne county March 3, 1869, the daughter of Lytal and Mary (Barnes) Gammon.

Mrs. Allen was a member of the Olive Branch church, where funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. H.H. Mayberry. Burial will be in Olive Branch cemetery.

The body will lie in state at the Richardson Chapel in Wayne City, where friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday.

Mrs. Allen is survived by four sons, Charles of Wayne city, Clyde of Peoria, Kenneth of San Bernardino, Calif., and Fred of Peoria; four daughters, Mrs. Martha Watson of Long Beach, Calif., Mrs. Lancon Clark of Wayne City, Mrs. Leah Lowe and Mrs. Mary Jones of Peoria; 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Laura Garrison of East St. Louis and Mrs. Martha Hayden of Wayne City.
