Kathryn W. Rogers
ROGERS, Kathryn W. Age 81 of Roseburg passed away at her home May 18, 1998. She was born August 17, 1916 in Randolph, Utah to parents Ernest and Mae (Webb) McKinnon. Kathryn grew up in Utah and went to the University of Utah and Weber State College before taking an elementary school teaching position in Tooele Utah. She later moved to Salem, Oregon where she had special training in social work for the Red Cross. Kathryn moved to Roseburg and was united in marriage in 1949 to her husband Vince Rogers who preceded her in death in 1985. She taught school at Riversdale School and later at Malrose School where she retired. Kathryn also helped her husband Vince in the family business Rogers Tune-Up Shop, which son Jim continues to run. During their retirement years they enjoyed taking their motor home to Mazatlan, Mexico where they would spend the winter months. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Eastern Star and Daughters of the Nile. Kathryn will be remembered for her love of kids Survivors include children, Geneva Booth of Bend, Oregon and Jim Rogers of Roseburg; sisters, Evelyn Burleigh of Evanston, Wyoming, Emma Lou Thornock of Cokeville, Wyoming and Ruth Lane of Bountiful, Utah, eight grandchildren: Richard and Andrew Booth of Corvallis, Oregon, Ashley and Margaret Rogers of Roseburg and Crystal Rogers of Ottsville, Pennsylvania. Services will be held Thursday, May 21, 1998 at noon at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, Melrose Ward, 2001 W. Bertha, with Bishop Rodney Grizzard officiating. Concluding services to follow at 2 p.m., at the Roseburg Memorial Gardens. Memorial may be made in lieu of flowers to the Shriner's Children's Hospital in memory of Kathryn Rogers. Arrangements have been entrusted to TAYLOR'S FAMILY MORTUARY of Winston.
