Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on July 27 at Merritt Funeral Home with Rev. Julie Bunt officiating. Burial was at Restland Cemetery. Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. on July 26 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Althaus was born July 5, 1922 in Maytown to Robert and Elsie (Kessel) Stewart. She married Lester Althaus on July 26, 1941 at the Methodist Church in Perkins Grove. He preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Robert (Ann) Althaus of Sublette; a daughter, Cheryl Althaus of Peoria; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Eleanor (John) Jacobs of Amboy.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
Mrs. Althaus and her husband farmed in the Sublette area during their lifetime. She was a member of Community United Methodist Church of LaMoille and Lee County. Memorials may be directed to Community United Methodist Church of LaMoille or Mendota Lutheran Home.
