Lois E. Lockhart Hirshey
(07 October 1918 - 28 January 2012)

Lois E. Hirshey, age 93, passed away on Saturday January 28, 2012, at her home, following an illness.

Lois was born on October 7, 1918 in Diamond, Mo., the daughter of the late Frank and Lola (Mathis) Lockhart.

She has been a lifetime area resident.

She was a graduate of Diamond High School.

She married Lee Hirshey on August 5, 1937 in Diamond, Mo.

During WWII while Lee was in the military Lois worked in the ship yards as a welder. It was said that she was one of their best welders.

She was a member of the 26th & Conn Church of Christ.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and cooking.

She was preceded in death by her husband Lee Hirshey in October 2002; two daughters, Vyrla Howe in June of 1997, and Darlene Dilworth in February of 2010; a grandson, Greg Price in November of 2007; and a son-in-law, Norman Dee in May of 2008.

She is survived by two daughters, Connie Dee, Augusta, Ks., and DeAnna Hirshey, Joplin; one sister, Elaine Abbott, of Texas; one sister-in-law, Nina Hirshey, Joplin; eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Mason-Woodard Chapel. Larry Carlisle will officiate.

Burial will be in Powers Cemetery near Diamond, Mo.

The pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will receive friends 6-7 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary.

Arrangements are under the direction of Mason-Woodard Mortuary & Crematory.
