GRIFFIN Mrs. Pauline Baugh Griffin, 93, of Winston-Salem died Monday, April 30, 2012 at Brookridge Retirement Community. She was born April 29, 1919 in Raleigh, the daughter of the late, Hubert Ivan and Minda Partin Baugh. Mrs. Griffin was a long standing member of Northwest Baptist Church. She joined the church on August 1, 1948 and was active in the women's ministries, especially the WMU. She was very active in her Sunday School Class, served on various committees and was faithful in all she did. She was a homemaker, but kept books for her husband's service station and worked for the telephone company earlier in her life. She was better known to many as ""Polly"" and was loved by all who knew her because she loved all and enjoyed doing and meeting the needs of others. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Alton Maynard Griffin and two sisters, Elsie B. Avent and Lessie B. Wright. Survivors include her nieces, Barbara Ann Davis and husband, Jack of Ooltewah, TN, Patricia Chapman of Florence, SC and Carol Nazzaro and husband, J. Russell of Mt. Pleasant, SC; her great nephews, Mark Dillon and wife, Kimbra of Clayton, NC and David Davis of Chattanooga, TN. She also had many nieces and nephews from the Alton M. Griffin family who loved her very much. The funeral service will be conducted Friday, May 4, 2012 at 1:00 PM at Hayworth-Miller Silas Creek Chapel with Rev. Brandon Hudson officiating. Interment will follow in Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
