Herman Wayne Burgener, 85, of Olney, passed away at 5 p.m. Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Helia Healthcare in Olney.

Wayne was born on April 7, 1927, in West Liberty, the son of Herman Peter and Stella Edith (Sprague) Burgener.

He married Dorothy L. Hunley on July 11, 1948, in West Liberty. She preceded him in death in 2011.

Wayne worked at Marathon Oil as an agent for truck drivers until his retirement. He loved to hunt and fish. Wayne was a loving parent, and will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.

He is survived by one son, Donald Wayne Burgener, of Olney; brother, Dwight Burgener, of Noble; sister, Juanita Bunting, of De Soto; three grandchildren, Sherrie Seals, and her husband Dave, of Glendale, Texas, Ed Burgener, of Olney, and Jason Burgener and his wife Katie, of Brimfield, Mass.; one stepgrandson, Jason Mink, of Cape Girardeau, Mo.; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Wayne was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy, his parents, Peter and Stella Burgener, son, Larry Duane Burgener, brother, Harold Milo Burgener, and one infant brother.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society.
