Helen "Sue" Walters, 91, of Nedrow, passed away Thursday at Crouse Hospital. Born in the Town of Onondaga, she was the daughter of the late Elmer S. and Elsie M. (Liddiard) Hayden. She was a Class of 1939 graduate of Onondaga Central High School and a Class of 1942 graduate of Powelson Business Institute. In 1985, she retired after 32 years of service as a supervisor for Kemper Insurance in Syracuse. Helen is survived by her son, Richard (Joanne) Walters of Onondaga Hill; her daughter, Kathleen (Edmond) Sherry of Albany; her brother, Harold J. Hayden of Syracuse; eight grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Leland B. Walters, in 2009; her son, Charles B. Walters in 1998; and her brothers, Francis, Richard and Clifford Hayden. A calling hour will be held Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Ballweg & Lunsford Funeral Home, 4612 S. Salina Street, Syracuse with a funeral service to immediately follow at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Contributions may be made to St. Paul's United Methodist Church Building Fund, 2200 Valley Drive, Syracuse, NY 13207.
