A son of Stephen & Henrietta Bohannon Barker. He became one of the founders of Pleasant Ridge church. First wife was Ann Bull of Person Co. NC, with whom he had 8 children. (He moved his family from Caswell Co. to Guilford Co.) He later married Emma McCrackin of Guilford College in 1893, after the death of Ann.
