Anna was born in Ferdinandshof in northeast Prussia near what is now the Polish border, the 3rd child of Augustus Neumuth and Charlotte Augustine (Justine) Louise Christine Zulke. Her father worked as a farm laborer and specialized in raising flowers. Her siblings were: Karl Ferdinand b. 24 June 1852 in Gramzow, Auguste Louise b. 29 Oct. 1855 in Rollwitz, Elisabeth Wilhelmina b. 19 Nov.1860 in Ferdindshof, and Agnes Marie Marta b. 06 Feb. 1863 in Brollin. The older children also worked as farm laborers.
The family decided to emigrate to America in 1868 and sailed from Bremen on the bark "Atalanta" to New York. The passage was often difficult and Anna became very ill and almost died. They arrived at New York on 26 May, 1868, a few days before Anna's 10th birthday.
Her mother's brother, Karl Zulke and his family had settled in Winconsin and then Iowa in 1854. The Neumuth family traveled west to Chicago and then Iowa, settling in the Riceville, Mitchell Co. area, near the Zulke family. Her father had a large nursery and raised primarily flowers.
On her 18th birthday, 01 June 1876, Anna married Louis(Lewis) Vohs of Burlington, Wisconsin area and they had 10 children: Levi Carl b. 08 June 1877, Lydia b. 24 Aug. 1879, Charlotte b. 1882-d. 1882, Carolyn Agnes b. 04 Aug. 1884, Martha Frances, b. 27 Nov. 1886, George Marton b. 16 May 1888, Ethel Helena b. 16 Dec. 1892, Edna Elizabeth b. 15 Apr. 1894, Harriet Laura b. 13 May 1897 and Winifred Mae b. 22 Nov. 1898. Winifred was the only child not born in Iowa.
Before she was born, the family moved to a farm in Watab Township, Benton Co., Minnesota.
In the 1920's, Anna went to visit her children, many of whom had settled in Washington, Oregon, and California. She decided to stay with her youngest daughter, Winifred Jacobson, in Aberdeen, Washington. Most of her daughters also lived in the area. Her son, Levi, remained in the Benton Co. area. Her husband, Louis, died in Minnesota on 15 July, 1935.
Anna died aged 95 after suffering a hip fracture from which she never recovered.
