PRIVATE RITES HELD FOR CLAUDE SHARP
Private funeral services were held this morning in the chapel of Black-Cooper-Ottesen Mortuary for Claude O. Sharp, 83, who died Wenesday following a long illiness.
The chapel services was followed by interment in the family plot in the IOOF Cemetery.
Mr. Sharp was a director of the 33rd District Agricultural Association from 1938 to 1943 and from 1947 to 1976. As an agricultural district director, he was a long sactive on the board's bulding committee.
He was also a founding director of the San Benito County Saddle Horse Association and served on its board from the orgination's formation in 1929 until his death. He was track committee chairman for the annual Saddle Horse Show and Rodeo for many years.
Mr. Sharp was also a member of San Benito Lodge No. 211 F. and A. M., Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9242, San Benito Post No. 69 of the American Legion and the San Benito County Farm Bureau.
He was a native of Santa Clara and was a rancher in the Southside District for many years. He was a veteran of World War I service with the U. S. Army.
Surviving famly members include his wife Mrs. Marion Sharp, a brother, Eugene H. Sharp, and two nephews, Eugene H. Sharp Jr. and Frederick D. Sharp, all of Hollister.
