Keith D. Bassett, born June 17, 1925, in Salt Lake City, Utah passed away at age 86 in his home in Salt Lake City, Utah from age related causes just before midnight on October 9, 2011.

He is survived by his beautiful wife of 63 years, Mildred Larson Bassett from Cache Valley, Utah and his four children, Stephanie L. Battisti, Grant K. Bassett, Jody L. Clark and Kelly A. Davis.
He is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and his younger sister, Sharon Nytch of Salt Lake City, Utah.

He is preceded in death by his parents Jesse P. Bassett and Jessie D. Bassett Leydecker.

He is also preceded in death by his brothers Kent and Arland Bassett and his sister Colleen Mark.

Keith served in the United States Coast Guard in the South Pacific during World War II and afterward served an LDS mission in Eastern Canada. He married Mildred Larson on August 31, 1948 and graduated from the University of Utah in 1953.

Keith had a wonderful, easy going attitude about life. He was gentle, kind and intelligent. He was a wonderful teacher and salesman. He received many awards and was revered by his students and colleagues. He was a very gifted orator.

Keith had a great interest in philosophy and LDS Church History. He loved to read and enjoyed dining out and going to movies. He also loved to cook.

The great love of his life was his wife, Millie. He enjoyed hiking and camping with his family and any family gatherings. He loved being in the company of his children and grandchildren.

His family was privileged and honored to be with him during his last days until he passed gently into that good night.

There will be a viewing at the Park Place Condominium Clubhouse at 1574 East 5600 South, Salt Lake City, Utah from 10:00 a.m. to 12 noon on Thursday, October 13, 2011. Immediately following at 12:15 p.m., there will be a funeral service at the LDS Cottonwood 7th Ward located at 5565 South Neighbor Lane, Salt Lake City, Utah.
