DONALD M. SWISHER, 84, of Galion, died Tuesday, April 16, 2013 at MedCentral Mansfield Hospital, Mansfield after a short illness.

Donald was born in Caledonia on October 6, 1928 to the late Edward and Blanche Swisher and Leontine Crampton. He married Dorothy J. Feick on June 29, 1947 and she preceded him in death on March 4, 2013.

Donald served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He retired from Galion Iron Works after 36 years, and had also worked at Swan Rubber. Donald had served as an Auxiliary Police Officer for the Galion Police Department. He was also a farmer. He was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Galion where he participated on the church Dartball League. Donald provided transportation for local residents when they needed rides to various places. He was part of the Joy Riders camping group and enjoyed the Cleveland Indians, Ohio State and spending time with his family.

He is survived by two daughters Linda J. & Tom Cahill of Galion and Debra S. & Larry Zellner of Galion; a grandson and three granddaughters: Nathaniel R. Cahill, Northville, Michigan; Andrea M. & Jack Cramer, Galion; Melissa A. & Chris Stiffler, Powell; and Jessica L. Smith, Mt. Vernon; five great-grandchildren: Paul E., Andi N.; Eli R., and Celia K. Cramer, and Mia C. Stiffler; his two sisters: Lois Farrow and Phyllis & Rod Jenkins; and his three brothers: Jerry & Barb Crampton, Gene & Carolyn Crampton, and Larry Crampton.

He was preceded in death by his infant grandson Curtis A. Cahill; his four brothers: Marion Swisher, Jim Swisher, Darryl Swisher and Virgil Swisher; and his three sisters Sylvia Magill, Maxine See and Ginny Lucas.

Friends may call Friday, April 19, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion. Friends may also call one hour prior to the memorial service which will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 20, 2013 at the Mark A. Schneider Funeral Home, Galion, with Rev. Katherine Beckett officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Galion.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First United Church of Christ, Galion in care of the funeral home.
