Earl Lewis "Skip" Durant, Jr., 63, of Farmington, died Sunday (July 24, 2005). Mr. Durant, born in Middlebury, VT, graduated from Hartford Regional Technical School in 1960 and went on to serve as a Vietnam and peacetime veteran in the Navy from 1961-1975. He had a profound sense of duty to his country and received a citation from President Nixon for search and rescue duty during Hurricane Camille. Prior to retirement from the civilian sector, he was employed at CalBox Corporation in Hartford. Mr. Durant was a dedicated community servant throughout his life and did volunteer work for the American Red Cross and the Veterans Administration. While at the VA, he was particularly drawn to the men who have most recently served our country abroad, recognizing in them a kindred spirit. Mr. Durant is preceded in death by parents Earl Sr. and Norma Severy Durant and sister Theresa "Terry" Cavanagh, long-term residents of Windsor, and by his daughter Deidre "DeeDee" Durant formerly of Pensacola, FL...
