RIPLEY – Clifford Lawrence Cox, 78, died Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Golden Living Center in Ripley. He was born June 30, 1934, in Tippah County to Alex Cox and Harriett Boyd Cox. He was a veteran of the Air Force, a graduate of Mississippi Valley State and a teacher for many years. He married Maudine Mitchell in 1972. He was a member of Bethel United Methodist Church in Peoria.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Moses Chapel United Methodist Church in Ripley. The Rev. Joseph Stone will officiate. Burial will be in Corinth National Cemetery. Foster & Son Funeral Home of Ripley is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include two brothers, Albert (Hattie) Cox and Alex Cox; a sister-in-law, Dossie Nixon; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; a brother, Earnest Cox; four sisters-in-law, Lula Mae Carruth, Dinah Lee Simmons, Lizzie Etta Johnson and Jamie Pauline Johnson.

Visitation will be from noon to 8 p.m. today with a family time from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. The body will lie in repose at the church one hour prior to service time.
