Ellen J. Hall left this world as we know it on April 4, 2013 after 86 years. She passed after a battle with pancreatic cancer with her family by her side.

Born in Kansas in 1926, her family moved to California after dust storms ruined their farm land.

She graduated from high school in 1944.

She was a USO hostess when she met the love of her life, John K. Hall, Jr. from Skagit County who was a pilot in the Army Air Force. They married in 1945 and at the end of his service moved to Skagit County where their children, four boys and two girls, were raised.

Ellen was active as a PTA member and den mother in Boy Scouts. She was also involved in Camp Fire as a day camp director for eight years and a Camp Fire Horizon club counselor. After their children were in school she began working at Skagit County Assessor's Office and retired after twenty-six years.

In 1985 her husband of forty years passed. She joined Sweet Adelines singing group in 1986 and enjoyed the friendship of many women in her singing chorus as they performed around Skagit County. She was active in Skagit Performing Arts Council (McIntyre Hall) since its inception in 1993.

In 1988 Ellen met a special man, Leonard S. Lee of Edison, and they enjoyed twenty-five years together. She was active in Edison's Territorial Daughters.

Ellen enjoyed all facets of life to the fullest. She was caring and nurturing, and enjoyed her large family with all their diverse personalities. She made us all aware of our surroundings: to listen, see, smell, taste, and touch, and give thanks every day.

We celebrate her, knowing she lives on in all of us and her spirit carries on. As a family unit we thank everyone for your kind words and prayers, and Hospice for their caring service.

She is survived by her children: Arden (Kerry), Kaye, Frank (Linda), Sharon (Doug), Lee (Pam), Marc (Donnell). She is also survived by her thirteen grandchildren and twenty-six great-grandchildren.

A private interment service will be held at Burlington Cemetery. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be announced at future date.

Arrangements made by Kern Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations may be sent to Camp Fire Samish at 1321 King Street, Suite #3, Bellingham, WA 98229.
