Mrs. Gladys Lucille Fulton Kirby, 94, of Winston-Salem passed away Sunday, April 14, 2013 at Salemtowne Retirement Community. Mrs. Kirby was born December 10, 1918 in Forsyth County to Buford Fuel Fulton and Mary Slater Fulton. After retirement from Western Electric in the accounting department, Mrs. Kirby was a Red Cross volunteer for 20 years. She spent a great deal of time caring for others with emphasis on birthdays, holidays and special meals. She was a kind and generous Christian who devoted her life to helping others. Mrs. Kirby was a member of Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Rady Bennett in 1957 and later by her second husband, Mr. Dean Kirby in 1967. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by siblings, Christina Crews, Addie Fulton, Belle Roberson, Ira Fulton, Raymond Fulton, Harvey Fulton, Abe Fulton, Alta Tuttle and Ollie Harris.

She is survived by her son, Richard V. Bennett and wife, Margaret of Winston-Salem; two grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Bennett, Joshua Hamilton Bennett and wife, Allison; and two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Jack Bennett; one brother, Paul Fulton of Winston-Salem; one sister, Freida Mabe of King; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Mineral Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Gus Thomas and Rev. Cecil Cave officiating. Burial will follow at Crestview Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Salem Funeral Home, Main St. Chapel. Memorials may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103 or to Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 3733 Ogburn Ave., Winston-Salem, NC 27105.
