Age 83. Peacefully, Tuesday, January 17,2012 at the Joliet Area Community Hospice Home with his family by his side, following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Crest Hill, he was a lifelong resident. A Korean Conflict U.S. Navy veteran. One of Paul's most satisfying accomplishments was authoring a book about his family called 'My Calabrian Mother' which was subsequently published. A devoted Cubs fan.
Preceded in death by his parents, one brother, and two sisters.
Surviving are his loving wife of 54 years, Rose(nee Orsini) Ciancenelli of Crest Hill; one daughter, Linda(Joe 'Bill')Dybas of Plainfield; one son John(Diane)Ciancanelli of LaGrange, Il, four grandchildren, Christina(Price)Dodge, Jimmy Price, Christian and Joy Ciancanelli; four great-grandchildren, Alexandria, Anthony, Andrea and Samantha Dodge; three sisters, Palma(the late Joe)Walosyk, Rose(Joe Guardia) and Connie(Julius)Kustra all of Crest Hill; numerous nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services for Paul Ciancanelli will be Friday January 20, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Ambrose Catholic Church for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. Entombment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Please omit flowers. Visitation FRIDAY MORNING from 8:30 a.m. until time of services at 10:15 a.m. at: FRED C. DAMES FUNERAL HOME, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet.
