Benjamin Lyons of New Paltz died at his home Sunday afternoon, April 23, after a long illness. He was 80 years old.
Mr. Lyons was a retired farmer and had lived in New Paltz for the last 80 years. He was the son of the late Abraham and Eliza Merrihew Lyons.
He is survived by his wife who was the former Celia Purcell, four daughters, Mrs. Emma L. Gilbert and Mrs. Elizabeth Terwilliger, both of New Paltz; Mrs. Anna Hendrickson of Schenectady, and Miss Lena Lyons of Poughkeepsie; two brothers, Russel Lyons of Highland and Walter Lyons of Newark, N.J., and one grandson.
Funeral services were held from his late residence Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Gerret Wullschleger officiating.
Interment was in New Paltz Rural Cemetery.
