In 1860, he was an engineer living in Wiconisco Township, Dauphin County, Pennsylvania, and stood 5' 7" tall with brown hair and gray eyes.
A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Harrisburg March 7, 1865, mustered into federal service there March 9 as a private with the 103rd Pennsylvania Infantry in the second organization of Co. G, and honorably discharged with his company June 25, 1865, at New Berne, North Carolina. He also served with Co. H, dates as yet unknown.
He reportedly died from consumption.
