Kenneth Floyd McEwen was born January 14, 1931, on a farm near Meridian, Oklahoma to Cleo Wilbur "Web" and Clarice (Waldman) McEwen. He passed from this life April 12, 2013, at 82 years, 88 days.
Kenneth served two years in the United State Air Force. He was Postmaster at Meridian, Oklahoma for 10 years. He was also a rural letter carrier in Guthrie, Oklahoma for 10 years, retiring in 1984.
Kenneth married Hazel Goodrich on June 1, 1953. They celebrated 59 years together in 2012. Kenneth was a lifelong member of the Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel, of the home; son, Richard McEwen and his wife Alice, of Perry, Oklahoma; grandson, Jeremy Shreffler and wife Karina, of Tulsa, Oklahoma; grandson, Cory Shreffler and fiancée Mary Henderson, of Meridian, Oklahoma: grandson, Jacob McEwen, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; great-grandchildren, Clara and Adam Shreffler, of Tulsa; and son-in-law, David Shreffler, of Guthrie He is also survived by brother-in-law, Floyd Goodrich and wife Marvel, of Noble, Oklahoma; and two nieces, Brenda Nivens ad husband Gary, of Coyle, and Marlene Stangl and husband Joe, of Guthrie.
He was preceded in death by his parents; youngest son, Bruce; daughter, Virginia Shreffler; and brother-in-law, David Goodrich and his wife Marilyn.
Funeral services will be at Poplar & Warner Church of Christ, Guthrie, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013, under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home (www.smithgallo.com). In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation or to Crossroads Hospice, Oklahoma City.
