BESSIE S. THETONIA, 78, of Pollard Avenue, a sales clerk at the former Grant's Department Store in East Providence for 10 years, previously employed by Rumford Baking Company in Rumford, died Thursday at Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island. She was the wife of Joseph B. Thetonia. Mr. and Mrs. Thetonia had been married for 46 years.
Born in Pawtucket, a daughter of the late Irving and Mabel (Smith) Baker, she lived in Rumford and Pawtucket most of her life. Mrs. Thetonia was a member of the East Providence Center.
Besides her husband, she leaves many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Irving and Charles "Chet" Baker.
The funeral service will be held tomorrow at 8 p.m. in the William W. Tripp Funeral Home, 1008 Newport Ave. Burial will be in Rhode Island Veterans Cemetery, Exeter.
