Born August 5, 1931 in Mediapolis, he was the son of Otto and Anna (Steffener) Wunnenberg. On November 17, 1951 he married Joan M Fullenkamp in Burlington.
He served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. Art worked as a carpenter, and then spent 33 years with Champion Spark Plug. He served as Sexton of Kossuth Cemetery until his passing. He took great pride in serving and keeping the cemetery beautiful.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Joan; a daughter, Deanne (Dave) Keefer; a son, Douglas Wunnenberg; two daughters-in-law, Renee Wunnenberg and Elaine Wunnenberg; nine grandchildren, Mecca, Carrie, Therese, Shayla, Lauren, Rachel, Tyler, Breanne, and Taelin; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lucille and Shirley; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two sons, David and Darrin Wunnenberg.
He was a true handyman, a kind and funny spirit, and he could fix almost anything. He will be missed.
Friends may call from noon until 4 p.m. Sunday, April 14th, at Lunning Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2 until 4 p.m.
The funeral service for Mr. Wunnenberg will be 11 a.m. Monday, April 15th, at Mediapolis United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jeff Kodis officiating. Interment will be in Kossuth Cemetery. The Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard will conduct Military Rites.
A memorial has been established for Kossuth Cemetery Association.
