Marion Spencer (Spence) Liard III July 25, 1948 - July 24, 2011

Spence (He preferred his middle name) was born in Wauseon, Ohio to Marion Spencer Laird, Jr, and Elvarita Helen Trimble Laird, He has lived in Conyers, Georgia, Germany and Lawton Oklahoma before moving to San Diego in 1977, with the Navy.

Spencer graduated from Lawton High School in 1966. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served honorably in Vietnam. After his enlistment, he returned to Lawton, Oklahoma and enrolled in Cameron University and was a member of the Kappa Chi Fraternity and also elected to the Cameron Student Senate. While attending Cameron, he managed the Mister Z's restaurant. He graduated from Cameron in 1973. After graduating from Cameron, Spencer once again joined the military—this time choosing a continuing military career in the Navy.

He married Ann Elizabeth Spencer on February 1974 in Lawton, Oklahoma. They later divorced.

In 1977 he married Kathleen Sue Carlson (K.C.) on Catalina Island. After finishing his Master's Degree in Software Science and Engineering, he retired from the service and worked as a software engineer.

Spencer enjoyed woodworking, genealogy, reading and traveling. He met his Savior after fighting a long battle with cancer.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years, his sister Margaret Kathryn, niece Rita and nephews Robbie and Mark along with aunts and cousins in Georgia and godsons, Kevin and Jonathan. Services will be held on August 8, 2011 at 1:00 PM at Maranatha Chapel in Rancho Bernardo.
He is preceded by both his parents.
