Lee was the husband of his step-sister, Effie May (Grace) Armstrong. Their children were Raymond, Ralph and Richard. He was a tenant farmer most of his life and was also a skilled woodworker and handy man.

This picture was taken of my Grandpa Lee on his wedding day on July 14, 1906 to Effie May Grace, his step-sister, whose mother, Camella Grace, married his father, Hugh Armstrong on February 19, 1902. Grandpa Lee was 19 and Grandma Effie was 27 when they married. They had three sons. My father, Richard Kenneth, as the youngest born on June 4,1916. They were married for 46 years when Grandma Effie passed away.

This is my grandfather, Lee, and my grandmother, Effie. This picture was taken in the back of their home in Lexington, Ohio. It had no inside bathroom, so bathing was done in a large, round metal tub filled with water that was drawn from a pump just outside the door seen in this photo. An outhouse was to the left of this picture. An indoor bathroom was added in the late 40's. Grandpa lost the eye site in one of his eyes when he had a cataract removed due to a staff infection. He was almost blind when he went home to the LORD, as he feared loosing what sight he had left and refused having the other cataract removed. He was a quiet, caring, hard-working man who lived humbly and simply. He had the cutest chuckle and I loved him dearly.
