Gundersen, Gustav EL CAJON -- Loving husband and father, passed away on April 2, 2013, his 92nd birthday. Gus was born in Stavanger, Norway. At the age of 2, he moved with his family to the U.S. and resided in Buffalo, NY. He proudly served in the Army for 5 years. He was discharged in Calif. where his family had moved to Pt. Loma. He attended SDSU before transferring to USC where he graduated from the School of Pharmacy. It was during college that he met and married the love of his life, Julanne (Jackson) in 1949. Gus opened the Valley Pharmacy in Spring Valley in 1954. He belonged to the SD Yacht Club where he enjoyed sailing for many years. He also enjoyed riding his horses with his daughter, Sonya. Gus is preceded in death by his son, Andrew. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Julanne and his daughter Sonya (Dave). He will be interred May 1, 11:00 a.m. at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. A celebration of Life will follow at the Gundersen residence. Those we love don't go away. They walk beside us every day. Unseen, unheard, but always near, still loved, still missed and very dear. Gus was loved by many and will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Salvation Army, Children's Home Society.
