Alex Nuss

Alex A. Nuss, 92, of Scottsbluff, died August 7, 2006 at his home with his family at his side. Funeral Services will be held August 11, 2006 at the Emmanuel Congregational Church in Scottsbluff. Interment will follow at the West Lawn Cemetery in Gering. Alex was born September 5, 1913 at Danilovka, Russia to Alex, Sr., and Amollia (Mollie) Nuss. He came to the Valley to Bayard in 1926, and on May 23, 1933, he married Dorothy Kraus at Brush, Colorado. He and his wife farmed north of Minatare until he retired in 1984 and moved to town. His wife Dorothy preceded him in death on September 15, 1991. Alex will always be remembered for his many stories of his days growing up in Russia and swimming across the Volga River. He spoke often of surviving the Russian Revolution along with his mother and siblings. He was a strong German man all his life, and in the end he was so very loving to those close to him and always very appreciative and thankful to all his wonderful caregivers.
He is survived by his sons Robert and his wife Mary Ann Nuss of Herington, KS, and Richard and his wife Genevieve Nuss of Minatare, his daughters Jane Carey of Minatare and Tonya and her husband Randy Baum of Gering, grandsons Craig and his wife Melanie Nuss and Rodney and his wife Lori Nuss, all of Herington, KS, Steve Nuss of Mitchell and Ray Carey of Kearney, NE, granddaughters Shelly and her husband Scott Bream of Phoenix, AZ, Erin Baum of Omaha, NE, and Marci and her husband Antonio De Los Santos of Scottsbluff, five great granddaughters, three great grandsons and two great great granddaughters. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.
His parents Alex and Amollia Nuss, his wife Dorothy (Kraus) Nuss, brothers Victor and Carl Nuss and sister Pauline Smith preceded Alex in death.
