Born in Augusta, Texas to Pennington and Mallie Hatch Curvey. She attended public school in Augusta and was a graduate of Ralph Bunche High School in Crockett, Texas. She was a member of Brewington Baptist Church (Augusta,Texas) at an early age.
She later moved to Houston, Texas where she met and married Frank Pines, Sr. April 29, 1960. To this union four children were born: Franchetta (Peaches), Shirley, Lillie and rank, Jr. also one stepson, James Earl Polk.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings: Geneva, Will Earnest,Sr., Troy, Sr., Ella, Lorenia, and Tannie.
She is survived by Her husband and four children and three sisters: Margaret Curvey Overshown, Mary Curvey Hickman and Harriet Curvey; four brothers: Artist Curvey,Sr.Pennington Curvey,Jr., Joe Louis Curvey, Sr., and Eotis Curvey, all of Houston, Texas; grandchildren and a host of loving relatives.
