Billie Howard,age 85, of White Oak Branch, West Liberty, Ky., passed away Monday at his residence after a brief illness.
He was born June 5, 1927, in West Liberty, Ky., son of the late Ballard and Louise Montgomery Howard.
He was a member of the Antioch Old Regular Baptist Church, Wayne, WV. He worked on highway construction.
Besides his parents,a daughter,Jewel Howard, one grandson,Jerry Ray Howard Jr., and four sisters, Beulah Chapman, Victoria Ball, Gertie Bolin and Lottie Howard and four brothers, Shafter, Luster, Sylvester and Hardin Howard preceded him in death.
He was united in marriage on September 2,1950 to Polly Kathleen Montgomery. They were married for 62 years.
Surviving is his wife, Polly of White Oak Branch, West Liberty, Ky., two daughters, Shirley and Dale Stephens of Jamestown, TN., Lula and Paul Maberry of West Liberty, Ky., tree sons, William Jay Howard, John B. Howard and Jerry R. and Geraldine Howard all of West Liberty, Ky., one brother, Clint Howard of West Liberty, Ky., sixteen grandchildren, David and Richard Stephens, Christy and John Braddock, Brandy and Brian Gibbony, Mandy and Bobby Smith, Amanda and Hubert Wright, Kayla and Steven Skaggs, Susan and Bob Eldridge, John M. Howard, Christopher and Stephanie Cox, Kimberly and Nicholas Hall, Jesse and Nicky Cox, Heather Cox, Ashley Cox, Billy Joe Cox, Kelli Maberry, Alison Keeton, 24 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Friday, April 12, 2013 at Herald & Stewart & Halsey Chapel, with Elder Leonard Napier, Elder Arthur Mathis, Elder Rodger Hicks, Elder Harrison Runyon, Elder Clarence Mathis officiating. Burial in the Montgomery Cemetery, West Liberty, Ky.
Visitation after 6 p.m. Wednesday and and 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers: Chris Cox, Jesse Cox, Billy Cox, Michael Howard, Nicholas Hall, Hubert Wright and Steven Skaggs.
